~ we will try to answer some of the questions that people are giving to the search engines with lead them to the angry red planet. in an effort to make sure no more comics are put into .pdf, here is a simple set of instructions for how to build files compatible with cdisplay [w]:
- scan the cover and all pages of your comics.
- crop everything but the artwork.
- adjust the levels.
- save each page as .png or .jpg at maximum quality.
- number the image files in the same sequence as the pages (ex.page00.jpg, page01.jpg…)
now there are a couple of choices with the files:
- place all images into a .zip file, then rename the extension .cbz
- place all images into a .rar file, then rename the extension .cbr
- place all images into a .tar file, then rename the extention .cbt
you can use winzip or windows to zip the files; winrar to rar.
finally, share your comics. it isn’t right to share new comics that will hurt sales and cause our favourite books to be canceled. scanning comics should only be done in the interest of preserving old comics and enjoying those unobtainable and/or out of print.
