~ though we consume mostly soy garden; we would like to congratulate earth balance on the redesign of their packaging. we have spent untold hours in the kitchen grousing on the principle which seems to govern decent foods: the ‘healthier’ the food, the more confusing and off-putting the packaging – which provokes people to eat more disgusting but more attractively packaged food. now that its container no longer resembles something you would pour into an automobile engine, less people will be eating trans fats. our hats are doffed to earth balance!

Filipino Monkey

~ anyone who reads newspapers knew all along that the recent ‘incident’ with the u.s. and iranian ships in the strait of hormuz, the location of which no american knows, was more staged than a scene on insidethecastle.org, but the late, quiet revelation that the whole thing might have been the work of an anonymous ham radio operator who spends his time insulting passing ships has to be the best story about a private individual stirring shit up since that homeless guy started a fire that shut down the subway in new york.

A heckling radio ham known as the Filipino Monkey, who has spent years pestering ships in the Persian Gulf, is being blamed today for sparking a major diplomatic row after American warships almost attacked Iranian patrol boats.

~ from the outbox:

also, it looks like i was dead wrong about hillary’s ‘crying’ being a fuck up

now, it is all anyone talks about – how it ‘saved’ her campaign by getting all these sympathetic women to vote for her.

this seems condescending to the ability of women to make rational decisions,
but wtf do i know about it?

although, a woman just called in to day-to-day [w] to admonish all men for calling hillary clinton ‘hillary’ while calling barack obama ‘obama’, as though using a first name puts someone in ‘her’ place. has anyone seen a campaign sign for ms. clinton? what name does she use?

maybe people say ‘hillary’ (like ‘w’ in ’00) so as not to be confused with the other clinton (like bush) we had 8 years previously, which is fucking stupid on an entirely new level.

Lioness in zoo kills man who invoked God

KIEV (Reuters) – A man shouting that God would keep him safe was mauled to death by a lioness in Kiev zoo after he crept into the animal’s enclosure, a zoo official said on Monday.

“The man shouted ‘God will save me, if he exists’, lowered himself by a rope into the enclosure, took his shoes off and went up to the lions,” the official said.

“A lioness went straight for him, knocked him down and severed his carotid artery.”

The incident, Sunday evening when the zoo was packed with visitors, was the first of its kind at the attraction. Lions and tigers are kept in an “animal island” protected by thick concrete blocks.

’nuff said!
