fuck stanley kurtz

23 November 2003 _ 20h04m47 EST
related content:

~ while describing one of our most furious episodes to an acquaintance, we misspoke in our rage. indulge us these clarifications:

1) it was stanley kurtz of the national review, not ‘the asshole governor of massachusetts’

2) it was not that he said ‘gay marriage corrupts children’ or some shit, but rather, ‘i think gay marriage is a bad idea…’ because of his concern for the ‘welfare of children who need and deserve stable families.’
we have no quarrel with his professed concern for kids, but our anger over the implication that gay folks’ desire to marry is not the actual opposite of stability, and, therefore, anything but damaging to kids, led us to our third mistake.

3) it was a ‘cinder block’, not ‘bead board’, wall, through which we would like to see placed ‘his face’, instead of ‘my fist’.

a dot

~ the governor of massachusetts, calling for a constitutional amendment to prohibit gay marriage, actually is an asshole.

george orwell, john dos passos, michael henry adams

~ congratulations to former president bill clinton on his ability to include both george orwell and gabriel garcía márquez in his list of 21 favorite books. this serves as a mediocre antidote to the dismal news of the award to stephen king of the ‘medal for distinguished contribution to american letters’ from the national book foundation and the embarrassment of having elementary school librarian from texas serve as the u.s. representative to unesco, despite the work of folks like john dos passos and michael henry adams, respectively.

michael jackson, woodbury unversity

20 November 2003 _ 12h32m14 EST
related content:

~ the warrant for michael jackson’s arrest is imbued in the same irony as the hopes for the failure of george w. bush’s reelection campaign. while some of the office drones apparently find it amusing to stand in the ‘break room’ and make jokes about jackson’s probable response to his being raped in the prison shower possibly meeting the same fate as john geoghan, the prerequisite for these musings is the abuse of children. similarly, in order for the campaigns of anyone trying to replace george w. bush as president to be successful, one has to tacitly hope that the economy remains stagnant and that american soldiers and marines continue to die in iraq on a daily basis. if everyone in the u.s. has a ‘spectacular’ job eight (8) months from now and the u.s. military has left behind a ‘democratic republic of iraq’, then what would the average msnbc reader have against four more years of bush?

~ two further examples of irony: whilst typing this entry, an office manager just handed to us a paper calendar for the year 2004, though our employment will be terminated before that year begins.

a dot

~ recent work: we have been working on some promotional materials for southern california’s woodbury university. in circulation now are the ‘transfer san diego‘ card and the ‘study architecture in southern california‘ card. being pressed/shipped now is the 2003-2004 lecture series poster; until its release date, our fans must tide themselves over with a view of test pressing. look for the ‘hollywood kit’ to appear in these pages soon.

moore city, 2003

1 November 2003 _ 10h54m02 EST
related content:

~ when perusing our archives, we uncovered a document from 1985 which, ostensibly, represents a conceptualization of an urban scheme in the year 2003. the proposed date of the scene pictured is indicated by notations on the face of the media opposite the rendering, which also give the location as ‘moore city’. though there is no scale numerically keyed on the drawing, we can discern, from the proportions of the bridge and passageways, that the two towers in the center foreground are at least as tall as chicago’s sears tower. judging by the lack of vehicular infrastructure, we can assume that this scheme intended to serve as a model for a city in which the pedestrian has exclusive priority.

note: the year represented in the proposal will end two (2) months from now.

world vegan day, cornbread, collards, black-eyed peas

related content: ,

~ happy world vegan day! whilst you recover from your engorgement of last night’s bacchanalia of chocolate and candies, spend a few minutes at a place like vegweb or vrg to find enough recipes that will make even the most skeptical and hardheaded carni-/omnivore realize that you don’t have to do anything crazy like press your own seitan to enjoy a sumptuous and ‘cruelty free’ meal, even if only for a day.

the angry red planet will be celebrating with a platter of blackeyed peas, collard greens, and cornbread, a trinity worthy of celebration in its own right. this will be followed by the empty calories of a chocolate cake. contact us if you need the recipe.

~ reloaded the zines and folio sections, along with a couple of ‘private’ sections; if you are one of the folks who frequent them, you will know to which pages we are referring. we have also tinkered with the contact form to a point were it satisfies us, not that the viewer would notice; the point in saying this is that you, the reader, should realize the ease with which you can entertain us with your commentary.

~ also available are the past 3+ years of logs, accessible from the drop down menu below.
